Current

Some of the next images are from a journey to Belgium to see Hans Arp’s and Sophie Taeuber-Arp’s exhibition in October 2024. Our accommodation was in Antwerp. We walked around the city and along the river Scheldt. I visited the book fair at Royal Academy of Fine Arts and bought photographs, whose origin is mysterious. An unknown photographer, says the seller. For me they work as a reminder of a close connection of fabric and human being, a sense of touch and fragility. They are also a bridge between Sophie Taeuber Arp’s textile works and my wish to use fabric and thread for my own art works.

I think of two words: affordance and serendipity.

The image combinations are like my diary entries how to formulate the process. One image is what I photographed in Antwerp, the second has its mysterious origin and third one is taken in my studio space in September 2025 by Jari Haavikko. Part of the objects in the photographs taken in the studio I call Pukine.
That is where I am aiming to.
